MOTIVATIONAL TALKS
Create that penny drop moment for your pupils with languages…
Delivered as a large, 50-60 minute assembly, we can visit your school to talk to pupils about the value of languages. This might be for the whole of Year 9 before making their GCSE options, some talented Year 11s in need of a push to continue to A-Level, or a primary school looking to raise the profile of MFL.
The talk covers our personal journey with languages, from school and university to working for Arsenal FC and beyond, using languages to travel the world and work with high profile players. It also includes a presentation on exciting careers in football and beyond where language skills would be useful.

How many times have your pupils told you that they won’t need languages for their future careers?
Our interactive careers workshop challenges all the common misconceptions about languages and where it can take you. Whether pupils are happy in their hometown bubble, or they think they’ve got all the answers about their future career, this workshop discusses all the hidden, transferrable skills beyond simply going abroad.
Using best-selling children’s author Dan Freedman’s book 50 Ways into Football, pupils explore a wide range of exciting careers in sport and beyond, and how languages can help them achieve that dream job.
CLASSROOM SESSIONS
Looking for something a bit different to engage your pupils?
Why not try a football-themed, interactive session in the classroom, covering key MFL skills? Delivered in a fun, engaging way to build pupils’ confidence to use new and existing vocabulary. Sessions typically last 45-60 mins and can be adapted to pupils’ ability. All sessions are available in French, German and Spanish.
All materials are provided and sessions can take place any time during term time. All you need to do is find us a suitable group to work with and some appropriate classroom space to run the sessions.
PRACTICAL FOOTBALL SESSIONS
Reward your pupils with a fun practical session that combines languages and football.
Taking place on an outdoor pitch or indoor sports hall, pupils will respond to commands in the target language, reinforce key vocabulary and learn some simple football terminology. Sessions last 45-60 minutes, are suitable for any year group and are available in French, German and Spanish.
This is a great way to create a buzz for MFL and often brings out a degree of enthusiasm from those who don’t always show it in class!

FAQs
How long do the sessions last?
Motivational Talks last 50-60 minutes. Careers Workshops, Classroom Sessions and Practical Football Sessions each last 45-60 minutes.
Is it just for football fans?
Not at all. Obviously, given our vast experience in football, many of my anecdotes relate to the football world, which not only links brilliantly to languages, but is also a proven engagement tool for many, many pupils - especially those who might not normally engage with MFL. That said, absolutely no assumed knowledge of football is required to benefit from any session, and most of the content is completely transferrable to other industries.
How many pupils can take part?
For a Motivational Talk, you can have as many pupils as you can fit into an assembly hall. For Careers Worskhops, Classroom Sessions and Practical Football Sessions there is a maximum of 30 pupils per session.
How much does it cost?
We tailor our delivery specifically to each school, so please get in touch to discuss your needs and obtain a quote.
What does the school need to provide?
For a Motivational Talk, we just need access to a projector and screen to show a presentation. Please also provide a microphone where possible. For a Careers Workshop and a Classroom Session, we also need a projector and screen to show the lesson slides, and pupils will need books or paper to write on. We will provide any other materials needed. For a Practical Football Session, we will bring our own football equipment, so it’s just the playing space that the school needs to arrange, as well as changing facilities for pupils taking part.
Do you cover the whole of the UK?
Yes.
I’m a PE teacher, would you come in and talk to pupils about the football industry?
Absolutely. We’ve delivered many talks about the football industry: how clubs operate behind the scenes, training methods, psychology, media, sponsorship, jobs in football and much more. Those were normally aimed at pupils studying GCSE Sports Studies, but could be tailored to any group.
